How our introductions work — and why they're free
The first question almost everyone asks us — physician or employer — is some version of "what's the catch?" Fair question. Here's the whole process, start to finish, including the honest answer about how a free service pays its bills.
Step one: a conversation, not a form-filling exercise
When a physician reaches out, we start with what they actually want: practice style, community size, compensation model, family considerations, timeline. When an employer reaches out, we do the same for the opening — not just the job description, but the call schedule, the supports, and what living in that community is genuinely like.
We do this by email and video, at whatever pace suits you. There is no portal, no algorithm, and no résumé database. Fewer conversations, deeper ones.
Step two: nothing moves without your permission
This is the part we're most careful about. When we see a genuine fit, we ask both sides separately:
- To the physician: "May we share your profile with this clinic?"
- To the employer: "We know a physician who may fit — would you like an introduction?"
Only when both say yes do we connect you — one email, both parties, full context. If either side says no, the other never knows the conversation happened. Exploring your options should never put your current position, or your hiring plans, at risk.
Step three: the relationship is yours
After the introduction, interviews, site visits, negotiations, contracts, and credentialing all happen directly between physician and employer. We're not in the middle of your hiring, and we don't take a cut of it. We stay reachable for questions, and we like to check in once the dust settles — because a placement that doesn't last helps no one.
So how is it free?
Prairie Physician Link is operated by Axis Immigration Consultants Ltd., an Edmonton-based immigration practice led by a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC R515408). The connection service is free because it's how we give back to a profession we work with every day — and, candidly, because some internationally trained physicians who meet us here later choose our firm for their immigration work.
That choice is entirely yours, and three things are always true:
- Introductions are never conditional on hiring us for anything.
- Immigration services, where requested, happen under a separate written agreement with its own fees.
- You're free to use any licensed representative — or none at all — and it changes nothing about how we help you here.
We'd rather state that plainly on page one than have you wonder about it. Transparency isn't just compliance — it's the only way introductions stay trustworthy.
Have a situation in mind?
Whether you're a physician weighing your options or a community with an opening you can't fill, a short email is plenty to start: hello@prairiephysicianlink.ca. We reply within two business days.
